On the 8th. March a report was made by the villagers of Leung Yuk Tau to the Police at Sheung Shui Police Station in the New Territories that a tiger was in the vicinity of their village. Two Constables accompanied these villagers to the scene P. C. Goucher having with him a 12 bore shot gun and P.C. Hollands a revolver. The tiger on their approach appears to have attacked P.C. Goucher who was severely Lauled. Later a further party went to the scene and I regret to report that an Indian Constable was killed on the spot, and a Chinese residing in the district was afterwards brought in to the Government Civil Hospital very severely injured. He also died of his wounds. I enclose a report of the occurrence as published in the local press.
